Non-Domestic Business Rates in England

In the budget the government announced a package of support for businesses facing significant increases in bills from the English business rates system and the relevant section referring to rates relief can be found at section 4.5 in this link –

What this should mean is that if over the past year you have benefited from small business rates relief, but from 1 April you would no longer qualify, the potential increase in your rate bill will be capped at an increase of £600 per year. It has not yet been confirmed how the discretionary relief pot will be distributed to local authorities but there is potential that other businesses facing big increases could be granted additional rates relief by their local council.
