Based at our site in Somerset UK and following in the tradition of Trist; Bestobell and Sterling, S M Seals specialise in the design, test, manufacture and supply of an extensive range of mechanical sealing solutions for the power generation industry.
We have particular expertise in the field of axial type main shaft seals for the hydropower industry. Our client list includes; Alstom, BUREC, DFEM, GE Energy, USACE, VA Tech Hydro and VS Hydro. Complete sealing solutions for Water Turbines, Reversible Pump Turbines and large Cooling Water Pumps are all within our field of operations. Our reference list includes Francis, Kaplan, Bulb, S-type, Tube and Mini Turbines (Cooling Water Pumps for Fossil and Nuclear fuelled power stations).
All our seals are designed, tested and manufactured to stringent design criteria and require minimal operator/maintenance intervention during operation.
Seals are designed to suit any shaft diameter and utilise the latest technology and materials available. They are split for ease of installation, resulting in reduced downtime and increased whole life cost effectiveness.
