Details :: Monzie Hydro Electric is a 200kW run of river hydro electric scheme which was first commissioned in 1952. The electricity is distributed by underground cable to Monzie Church, a village hall, three farms and various houses on Monzie Estate and supplies a bespoke joinery manufacturing factory. It has an 11kV connection to the grid and the surplus generation is exported at present to Scottish & Southern Energy plc.
