Exports
The global installed hydropower capacity is estimated at 888.8 GW, generating over 3,352GWh/yr - almost one quarter of the technical & economically feasible resource .
Increasing efforts to achieve water and food security, access to reliable electricity supplies and prepare for the effects of climate change are three prominent themes at recent international congresses. This has led to a recognised need for further development of clean reliable hydropower on a worlwide basis.
Estimates suggest that if the remaining feasible projects were developed over the next 100 years and the UK hydro industry only won 1% of the business, then the value would be £400 million per year.
Hydropower has the largest renewable energy technology export potential, with a wide range of UK companies offering extensive capability and experience.
