Exports

Worldwide installed capacity is estimated at 937GW (genearting 3.5 million GWh/yr) with a further 185GW under construction and up to 585GW planned (The Incternational Journal on Hydropower & Dams World Atlas 2011).

Increasing efforts to achieve water and food security and access to reliable electricity supplies have led to a recognised need for further development of clean reliable hydropower on a global scale. This provides the UK hydro industry with significant business opportunities worth milliomns of pounds per year.

Hydropower has the largest renewable energy technology export potential, with a wide range of UK companies offering extensive capability, experience and expertise to the global supply chain in both services and product/equipment supply. The UK has an established record and there is a bright future for our sector.

We work closely with UK Trade & Investment as well as overseas British Embassy and British High Commission staff to ensure the swift dissemination of enquiries and information. This combined approach brings strength to the industry when working overseas. We are actively involved in the organisation of overseas missions and participation in worldwide hydro events, where members have the opportunity to raise their profiles in foreign markets. We endeavour to optimise exporting opportuntities for our members..
